Dura-Fibre Folding Carton Substrates Feature Superior Freeze/Thaw Capabilities

July 18, 2013

For the folding carton industry, freeze/thaw applications are particularly challenging, as moisture can cause packaging to lose its integrity and warp or tear. To address this concern, many of Dura-Fibre’s substrates including Forte, Eclipse, and Blanc, feature a kraft liner, which provides unmatched wet durability, quality, and consistency.

Dura-Fibre’s heavy weight folding carton substrates combine the natural kraft liner with a superior print surface for excellent printability, stiffness, and tear and internal strength properties. These combination of boards laminated together provide for superior freeze/thaw packaging applications.

Dura-Fibre’s folding carton substrates deliver superior refrigerator freeze/thaw applications compared to corrugated materials for indirect food contact. Corrugated materials have difficulty holding up through multiple cycles of freeze/thaw due to air trapped in the flutes. The trapped air begins to break down the flutes and glue, causing the performance of the carton to fail. Dura-Fibre’s substrates combine a natural kraft liner with a superior print surface for excellent printability, stiffness, and tear and internal strength properties – holding up after multiple freeze/thaw cycles.

Dura-Fibre heavyweight folding carton materials may be used in a variety of freeze/thaw packaging applications for the retail food and beverage markets.
